Languages

Welcome to the Language page.

The language that we teach in Salusbury is Spanish although we do encourage children to become aware of other languages and cultures. Our goal is to inspire children to love learning about languages through games, songs and stories.

At Salusbury we teach Spanish to all children from Reception to Year 6 as part of the established school curriculum. We do this for several reasons. Firstly, we believe that many children really enjoy learning to speak another language. Secondly, we also believe that the earlier a child is exposed to a foreign language, the faster the language in question is acquired. Thirdly, we believe that it is a good idea to introduce a new language to children when they are at primary school, as pupils tend to be less self-conscious about speaking aloud at this stage of their development. It is widely believed that the early acquisition of a foreign language facilitates the learning of other foreign languages later in life.

International links

At Salusbury we have an international link with El Carmen School, a Primary school in Cuenca, Spain. School partnerships are a great way to bring international education to life for young learners, and the benefits of doing joint projects with international schools are wide-reaching

We have a cooperative blog with El Carmen school in Spain where children exchange information and show each other what they have been learning in class. https://salusburyandelcarmenschool.blogspot.co.uk/
