Year 6 at PGL - Sunday updates

19th May 2018

Another fun-filled day on Sunday with the high rope course and the evening camp fire.

Last night the children slept in their cabins waking up to a day of fun!
Both the staff and children have been canoeing, on the rope course and even taking part in a laser maze challenge. Activities like these are great for  enabling children to respond the challenges they will face in the future. Our students need to learn to live with uncertainty and to develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them. Adventure experiences help young people to learn to manage themselves in a risky and uncertain environment and to achieve that balance.

Trips like these can be a real boost to self-esteem, especially for those who have not previously excelled. Many children discover for the first time that they can succeed, a discovery that has a direct effect on their subsequent engagement and motivation. The perfect preparation for Secondary school!

Our Year 6 children have arrived at PGL and have enjoyed an afternoon of games and free time before having dinner. Tomorrow the real adventure begins!
