Spanish Day
Every year in Salusbury we hold a Spanish Day celebration. This year we held the day in February 2022 and the day was filled with language and cultural activities. It was fabulous to see the staff and pupils dressed in a Miro style outfit for the day including many in flamenco dresses!
We studied Catalán artist, Joan Miró with each class being given the opportunity to explore his artistic style by doing their own Miró painting or sculpture.
It was magnificent to have help from some of our Spanish speaking parents. This meant that as well as having their normal Spanish lessons with their teachers, children could benefit from learning from other native speakers.
Our amazing cooks prepared a delicious Spanish theme menu, which include vegetarian paella and Spanish tortilla.
In Destination Reader we learned about Miro’s biography and we discussed what piece of his art was most inspirational to us and why.
